Our Story
“Up into the clouds and beyond, toward new journeys and pleasant encounters.”
— Bohumil Říha, About the Little Plane Káně
It all started with one little book. As a child, I devoured stories about the little plane Káně and dreamed of being just like the boy in the story—having a plane in the meadow behind my house and soaring freely over the countryside.
The path to fulfilling my dream wasn’t a straight one. Between school, military service, and later my business, flying sometimes had to wait, but my dream never faded.
In 1998, I earned my first ultralight license here at the Strakonice airport.
To this day, I remember that feeling of freedom, that feeling when all my worries stayed on the ground and it was just me and the sky. In the years that followed, I gradually added more licenses—PPL, CPL, ATPL theory for commercial flying—and in 2016, I completed PPL training for helicopters. Strakonice Airport became my second home—I found a great group of friends here and fulfilled my childhood dream.
Today I fly a four-seat Cirrus SR22 and a two-seat Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter, and I’m still fascinated by the same thing: the chance to take off, look at the world from above, and fly wherever I want.
Over time, I discovered that traveling on the ground offers me the same sense of freedom. Traveling in my “home on wheels,” as I like to call my motorhome, is a natural extension of flying for me. It’s the same independence. You can stay put or move on. Without rushing. On your own terms.
And it was precisely this passion for space and freedom that gave rise to this place:Hangár Apartments and Caravan Park. We built it right here at the Strakonice Airport, where I first took the controls. It’s a haven for everyone who loves the open sky—whether you arrive by car, RV, or fly in from the sky.
Come visit us to relax, find inspiration, or even take a flight over the countryside, and let yourself be swept away by an atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else.
